Festivals in Blue Ridge
Festivals in Blue Ridge Long famous for it's festivals
and celebrations, the Blue Ridge Mountains region
has something for almost anyone. If you are looking
to plan a trip to the area, it may be vital for
you to know what festivities will be going on exactly
during your visit. Listed below are some of the
bigger events going on in this area that are worth
experiencing. Want to experience the famous National
Park that is centered in the Blue Ridge Mountain?
In April, the Blue Ridge area hosts a festival named
the Aska Adventure Area. Many teams, usually around
eighty, with both males and females compete in a
series of events throughout the Chattahoochee Park.
Hiking, kayaking, mountain biking and running are
events in this marathon event. As well as the competition,
the event also ends in a spectacular festival in
the downtown park area. Live music and great food
awaits all participants and spectators alike.
Blue Ridge also goes all out during the weekend
closest to July 4th. On the Saturday nearest this
day, a marvelous parade is held downtown. Afterwards
free food and ice cream and more are given to visitors.
A fun day for sure. Blue Ridge also has two separate
firework events during this period. The first, called
the Lake Blue Ridge Fireworks, occurs near or on
the fourth of July. With food provided by a local
Lodge, you can watch fantastic fireworks explode
over the great scenery all throughout the night.
The second fireworks event, Miner's Homecoming,
also occurs right around the fourth of July during
the night. A celebratory parade, the Kiwanis parade,
is also held the day after Independence Day. The
fourth of July weekend is clearly a great time to
take a trip down to the Blue Ridge area.
There are other casual festivals as well. Every
labor day a grand barbecue is held that begins in
the morning and lasts as long as there is still
food to be eaten. This event happens in downtown
Blue Ridge and also features entertainment for visitors
as they eat. Another event the whole family can
enjoy is the Family Fishing Festival that occurs
in September. Hosted by Chattahoochee National Fish
Hatchery, families can fish and watch demonstrations
on how to better improve their techniques. Clearly
a great event for all ages for people who love to
catch marine life. The festivals listed above are
just a few of many that can be found in the Blue
Ridge Mountain area. All throughout the year a fun
event can be found that the entire family will be
able to enjoy. So decide on a date to visit the
area and experience an event for yourself! |
