Outdoor Fun in the Blue Ridge Mountains

Typically, when a family plans a vacation to an area such as the Blue Ridge Mountains, they do in order to experience more activities outdoors. There are some exceptions to this rule, as with any, but the vast majority are not looking to stay glued to the television for three days inside. If outdoor fun is something you are your family are looking for, here is a brief guide on some of the great experiences you could have in the Blue Ridge area!

As I am sure you already know, Blue Ridge is close to the Chattahoochee National Forest. This area of forestry is spectacular in beauty and is a great sight to see for visitors to the area. There are many different animals and plants to see all-around, it is easy to tell why this area is a national treasure. The Chattahoochee Forest is a great place to take the kids and have a good time.

Looking for some more hands-on fun? The Blue Ridge area is a great place to go whitewater rafting. Simply get your equipment and sense of adventure and head down to the Ocoee River. There is a center along this area where a professionally organized rafting group resides. It is pretty easy to set yourself up for a day of facing the harsh river and water.
Of course with the Blue Ridge area being near so many mountains, there are plenty of hiking trails available for those who would like less strenuous activity. Some of the more famous hiking trails include the Appalachian Trail, a five-six mile trail that is not for light hikers, the Tipton Mountain course, which is shorter but much steeper and hard to climb, and the Lake Blue Ridge Loop Trail, an easy course that the kids should have no problem completing. Clearly the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great place to go for a hike on!

Of course these are just some of the activities a family can do in this area. If you would rather go out golfing and hitting the ball through eighteen holes, many courses can be found in the area. If your children want to ride horses, there are areas to do so as well. There are even tours of the area you can take in your car, for those of you who like to feel outside but not actually be outside. So as you can see, there is something for everyone in the area. Outdoor fun is waiting at your footsteps in the Blue Ridge Mountain area, just turn off the television and go outside!
